The Fifth World Conference on Faith and Order met in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, 3-14 August 1993, around the theme "Towards Koinonia in Faith, Life and Witness".
A highlight of the opening worship service was the traditional swinging around the altar of a "botafumeiro", a large censer suspended by rope from the ceiling.
